Should i ask him out if he likes me?

so i like this guy of coarse and we went through a lot in the beginnig of the school year and we let go of that and now ever since this girl left one of my classes the guy i like has been looking and talking to me more but he already knows i like him and everyone says we would be a cute couple and also when he smiles he always looks at me and when he passes me and my friends he always says hi to us and waves....and when in not around my work he looks at my art work all the time..and today he threw a colored pencil at me and said it was someone else....so does he like me and doesnt want anyone to know or just doesnt like me? and he smiled at me when i tured around when he threw the pencil....
